Christmas Memories
My Grandmother used to make hand made ornaments to adorn our gifts as children growing up. Cut-outs of trees and bells, she would then glue on sparkles or whatever she fancied at the time. In her hall closet she had a large glass jar, filled with odds and ends, buttons, pieces of old cards that she saved, sparkles and glue. Just recently, my brother found this one she made for me, took a quick pic and emailed it to me.
We used to tuck them into the tree or attach a little hanger to the top and put them up after we opened up our gifts. Such a nice reminder of childhood memories and my wise, loving Grandmother.

Down By The Salley Gardens by William Butler Yeats
Down by the salley gardens my love and I did meet;
She passed the salley gardens with little snow-white feet.
She bid me take love easy, as the leaves grow on the tree;
But I, being young and foolish, with her would not agree.
In a field by the river my love and I did stand,
And on my leaning shoulder she laid her snow-white hand.
She bid me take life easy, as the grass grows on the weirs;
But I was young and foolish, and now am full of tears.
Notes
First published as 'An Old Song Resung' in The Wanderings of Oisin and other Poems (1889).
Originally an old Irish folk song, Yeats turned this into a poem as a dedication to oral tradition.

Great Vintage Find!
I found this bangle this past weekend at one of my favourite second hand shops. It was only $5 and I simply love all the detail, the best part is, it fits my bony wrist!
